Westwood Schools recently identified students eligible for the Duke University Talent Identification Program. The Duke TIP program is designed to identify and serve students nationwide with exceptional academic potential. Students who score at the 95th percentile or higher on our highly rigorous standardized test are eligible for the program. Thirty-three percent of Westwood’s current 7th grade class met the criteria based on scores on the Educational Records Bureau Comprehensive Testing Program (CTP) administered in the spring of 2017. Westwood is proud to announce that the following 7th grade students scored within the top 5 percent on the nationally normed assessment: Carli Bentley, Britney Bigelow, Carleigh Bynum, Emily Childress (not pictured), Vivian Collins, Jackson Curles, Hannah Glass, Sarah Sheffield, Mary Simmons, and Noah Spencer.
Each of these exceptional students is eligible for above grade level assessment including the ACT or SAT as a 7th grader. They may also take advantage of independent learning opportunities and academic adventures through the Duke TIP program.
