The Westwood family is so proud of Coach Earl Ford who was awarded the Brent Cribb Distinguished Service Award recently at the GISA banquet in St. Simon’s. He joins a long list of distinguished coaches including Graham Lowe, Coach Martin and Joe Caldwell. In track, he has won 34 region championships and 11 state championships. Coach Ford continues to build a dynasty with Westwood track & field. You can always spot him in a crowd in his big straw hat! Although he is best known for his accomplishments on the track, he also coaches defense for the football team and has 4 state championships as a football coach. He also brought wrestling and cross country to Westwood. He was humbled and honored to receive this award. He was introduced by Westwood faculty member, Gail Lee, who was an athlete for him and now coaches beside him. Gail said in her presentation that “Coach Ford has been my teacher, my youth director, and my coach. Now, he is my mentor and friend. My life has been deeply influenced by him. Watching Coach Ford’s passion has inspired me to follow in his footsteps.” What an amazing honor! Congratulations Coach Earl Ford! We are all so proud of you.
